Entire School Misses Point of Keith Knight Cartoon

Goddamn it, I would kill to make the local news with Stan Boney in Slippery Rock! Keef has done it again. These kids should kill some time playing Offendo! Anyway, enjoy!

It doesn't say much about the quality of the education at SRU when their students can't even comprehend the most basic satire.

Part of the beauty of the freedom of speech is that you will hear and read things you don't agree with. If you don't like it, simply don't read that publication or watch that TV channel or read from that author again.

That being said, I think the cartoon was not only funny, but it plays out a very important point. The black man is in the noose, clearly the victim of violence, is being told by his aggressors that he's not the victim of violence.

It's the same ideology that causes people to be pro-life while also supporting the war in Iraq and supporting the death penalty. It displays perfectly, everything that is wrong with a fundamentalist mentality. It makes people think.

Yes, let's ban things that make people think. Let's just go ban everything.

Actually, it IS funny to see you idiots wearing nooses around your necks and asking the media "How funny is this?" over a misreading of a very clear cartoon.

Is it safe to assume that Slippery Rock is placed on some kind of decline? This whole thing might make more sense if this this place were more appropriately called "Slippery Slope," after all...

No- it's not safe to assume Slippery Rock is any kind of decline. It was a 4-year warehouse for stupid rich kids when I first heard of the joint in the early 80s, so with SRU's current annual costs for PA residents at $15,400/yr and the student body's failure to understand Keef's pointed comment, nothing's changed.

So, what, you don't have to be smart to go to University in America? Damn, and me living in Britain where it's a requirement that you possess at least rudimentary intelligence and literacy.
